Documentary Tracing the History of Woburn’s Tidd Home Now Airing on Woburn Public Access Television

WOBURN, MA, January 9, 2008— A new 20-minute documentary on the Tidd Home and its place in the history of Woburn is currently airing on Woburn Public Access television channels 3 and 13 on RCN, and channels 9 and 10 on Comcast. The documentary reviews Woburn history in the late 1800s and traces the founding of the Tidd Home in 1887, for the purpose of providing safe and affordable housing for senior women.

The program was produced to coincide with the celebration of the Tidd Home’s 120th anniversary. The milestone was earlier marked by a special Victorian-style Tea and Open House in September which drew some 150 visitors.

The documentary incorporates interviews with prominent Woburn attorney and historian John McElhiney and Nancy Barnes, the Tidd Home’s executive director, along with photographs of Woburn in the late 1800s, a tour of the facility and footage of the Victorian Tea.

The Tidd Home, a unique residence for senior women, which for over 120 years has provided housing for senior women allowing them to continue to lead independent, fulfilled lives.
